Pudge Helping Horses: BLUE Needs a Forever Home Now!

Meet Blue!
Meet Blue!

Dear friends,

Our Jordan needs your help. She is working hard to find Blue a home. Blue is a beautiful 12 year old Quarter Horse pony! He was working at a barn being used as a lesson pony and is very laid back with a calm personality. He is wonderful with kids and is well trained and used to being around people.

A few months ago Blue came in from his turnout with possible neurological problems. He can no longer be used for lessons or be ridden because of this. Jordan may be able to get him a temporary foster home for one month but the time factor is very critical.

Due to his current condition, further evaluation by a veterinarian would be highly recommended and with the condition that he is a companion pony or pasture pet. He is so good with children so a nice option for him would be to keep him busy with children’s birthday parties or other events not involving riding. He could be a rescue’s ambassador to bring awareness to horses in need as well. So many possibilities here.

He is an easy keeper in that he has good eating habits and responds well to humans. He has great potential to the right person willing to invest their time and give him the care he needs and deserves.

If you or any Horse Rescues out there are able to help Blue and make him a part of your family please contact Jordan. During the past 6 months Jordan has worked extensively with Blue and knows him and his habits very well. She feels very strongly that this beautiful 12 year old pony deserves a chance and does feel it would be a huge waste to have him put down.

Please contact Jordan Sinners for more details about Blue, his medical condition, location to meet Blue and much more:

We will miss him that is a fact but we hope that he’ll stop by a time or two next season to be a part of the crowd that makes Saratoga!

Indy! Your friend in Racing!
Indy! Your friend in Racing!

Dear friends!

Hello to all from my barn in Georgia and from Pudge’s barn in beautiful Lancaster County PA! Whoa, how about Travers Weekend! Great racing, beautiful weather and fans everywhere! The Spa was full of excitement and race cards loaded with talented horses. The signature Travers Stakes was run on Saturday, August 23rd and it was a thriller! This is perhaps the oldest and most distinguished race for 3 year old horses outside the Derby and is in fact informally known as the Mid-Summer Derby! The winner of the Travers will also hold a historic part of Saratoga’s history for decades to come.

Our winner this year for the Travers Stakes was a beautiful talent named VE Day. Named for the famous day of the victory in Europe to end the Second World War. VE Day came from behind in a solid performance to give us a photo finish as it was so close to call! Pudge and I thought Wicked Strong would get there first but in the final exciting strides, VE Day clipped off the win!! Oh my we were sure on the edge of our stalls for that one!

We’re reporting the graded stakes this week at Saratoga and each one was special as it was exciting for us to see. This was the last Travers weekend that Tom Durkin will call as he retires after this final weekend of racing for the Saratoga meet. We could hear his captivating race calls made with pride and he told the incredible story for each race as it unfolded before us. Tom made race day at Saratoga all the more special and we’ll be sorry to see him go. But it is a hope of ours that he’ll come back to Saratoga to say hello and enjoy the racing.

And now the race details and replays await for this week!

The graded stakes for this week at Saratoga! This coming weekend will conclude the meet on Labor Day for another year. Be sure to check out the newly painted canoe with the colors that V. E. Day carried. Both will now be a part of this wonderful history of Travers Day. We would like to congratulate V.E. Day on his tremendous performance and wish him well in his future races. He now has an important part of Saratoga’s history along with the greats who won before him. Pudge and I were thrilled to watch this exciting race! Indy in Georgia with his human!
Indy in Georgia with his human!

Dear friends!

Whoa and a hearty hello from my barn in Georgia and Pudge’s in Pennsylvania to yours!! We did see another Repole Stables Star take her place in the Alabama Winners Circle in Saratoga. Mike Repole and his family were there to witness a gutty performance by their talented filly. Pudge of course thinks she is really a sweet filly and I think she is pretty cute too. She really wowed us in those final yards though as she took the lead from Joint Return. Strong filly and just a beauty to watch.

We’re reporting the graded stakes this week at Saratoga and each one was exciting for us to see. Each winner gave a solid performance. Pudge and I truly love the magic at this historic race track. We never tire of the red and white awnings and the beauty of what is Saratoga. Soon we will wish the beluvd announcer Tom Durkin a fond farewell as he looks forward to his retirement at the end of the meet. He lives close to the track in Saratoga so we’re hoping that when the next meet comes around, we’ll see him there enjoying a day at the races. His announcing is by far captivating and energizing. He really knows how to call a race and engage his audience! Half the fun of the racing day is to listen to his narrative of the race as the horses make their way around the track. He will be missed more than words can say.

And now the race details and replays await for this week!

Dear friends!

Whoa, it’s that Saratoga Special time of year again! The 2 Year Olds are heating up the track with young talent, records are being set and we’ll wait a bit longer for Wise Dan to make his next move! We were sad that Wise Dan had to sit out the Fourstardave, a race that he has won in previous outings, but we know his connections and most notably Charlie is trainer is looking out for our champ’s best interests. So we wait with the hope that his comeback will show him in fine form once again. His works are doing very well and he is recovered from his bout with colic so Pudge and I will wait until Wise Dan the man makes his presence known on the track once again.

Though we would have liked to see Wise Dan in the Fourstardave once again, his counterparts did give a thrilling race that saw a track record set by the winner. Many congrats to Seek Again.

We also saw a talented Bernardini filly romp in the Adirondack Stakes! So young, so talented. We’ll be looking forward to Cavorting setting the bar high in the next race! Pudge and I do feel that the race that gave us pause to think about was the way in which I Spent It ran and ultimately won. This colt is one his trainer is very high on, but after we witnessed all the things he had to overcome in order to get that win and come through so confidently was stunning. Pudge and I do feel as many others now know that this colt will be one to watch. He listens and responds to his rider with finesse and we do think we’ll be hearing about him again!

And away they go!

Meet the Horses Available for Adoption at Serenity Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation

Serenity's Director
Serenity’s Director

Friends!

Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation has a great group of beautiful horses just ready and waiting for their very own forever luving home!! If you’re not able to adopt, please help me share out their information far and wide. In addition it is possible to sponsor a horse at Serenity until the horse is adopted. Sponsorship means so much because the money received helps to offset the costs of the care necessary for each horse.

To learn about how to sponsor a horse please go to this link:
http://www.serenityequinerescue.com/sponsor

For all the information you’ll need to know about how to go about adopting a horse at Serenity Equine Rescue please go to this link:
http://www.serenityequinerescue.com/adopt

I’ve been in touch with Brenda from the rescue and she gave me notes about the horses which I share below!

Meet the Horses!

Jayjay

Jayjay
Jayjay

Meet their wonderful JayJay!! She is a pure white Arabian mare, age 20, but you would NEVER know it. This girl is super well trained, a dressage horse. Her years of training and showing are evident. She needs at least a medium to experienced rider. Her gaits are beautiful, she has perfect ground manners, and is just a fantastic horse. She is allergic to alfalfa, so is fed orchard grass. Small adult or experienced teens.

Kazmeen
Kazmeen

Kazmeen is a beautiful dark bay Arabian gelding . He was adopted and returned as the owner could no longer care for him. Kazmeen is very well trained and has been ridden on trails and in a few shows. Unfortunately, he was injured when he was very young and is no longer able to be ridden. He has never been lame but has a compromised hock. Kazmeen is a gentle curious boy and loves attention. He would make a perfect pasture mate as he is kind and enjoys his herd mates.

Keona and Sequoia: this mother and daughter pair are beautiful and very smart. Sequoia is the mama, she is a Yakima Indian Pony, about 14.1 hands. Green, so needs some work, but a very smart and sweet girl. Keona, her daughter is half Arabian, a very pretty mare, about 14.2. Also green. She was born at Serenity, is SUPER friendly, and would love a permanent person. Keona is 4 and Sequioa is 6. They are very bonded and would best go together. Would suit experienced teens or small adult.

Reese
Reese

Reese is a lovely 14.2 Arab mare. She has a beautiful movement, and very good manners. She was returned to us after being adopted out due to a divorce in the family. She is learning to trust again, and making great progress. Reese is 14. Small adult or experienced teens.

Shamara
Shamara

Meet Shamara, a 30 year-old bay and white pinto Arabian/Saddlebred mare who stands over 15 hands. Shamara and her 14-year-old daughter Selena were finally surrendered by their owner to Serenity after more than a year of tireless work by one of our volunteers. They had been living in knee-deep mud for years with no dental or hoof care and were badly malnourished.

After several months of mashes, special dental care and farrier work, Shamara is once again healthy and sound. Although Shamara is sound and rideable she is at a place in her life where very light riding would be best. Shamara has developed Cushings and needs medicine each day.

If you are interested in adopting Shamara or any of the other horses, please contact patricia@serenityequinerescue.com to arrange a time to meet this wonderful mare.

Wonderful horses needing a home. Please network, share, and if you can sponsor and/or adopt! Winter is coming so it is imperative that the horses have the funding for their care while they’re waiting for their once in a lifetime human! The rescue is located in Washington state where the wildfires have plagued acres and acres of valuable land. Humans and animals alike have been affected in a big way. What the fires have meant to the rescue is a huge increase in hay costs as the fires were in the area where the hay is grown. Please do what you can and as often as you can. Serenity and the horses will be forever grateful!

Luv Pudge ♥

Indy’s Racing Thoughts! Summer at Saratoga Series, Week 3

Indy your friend in Racing and BFF!
Indy your friend in Racing and BFF!

Whoa!
Hi Friends! Indy welcoming you with a Whoa and how are you and are you watching Summer at Saratoga? Pudge and I have been so excited about the races and there have been a few upsets!! Take this weekend for example! We were all pretty much expecting a win with Palice Malice and Moreno wired it! Moreno is a wonderfully talented horse although some of his trips have been a little problematic but Saturday he put it all together and had his speedball dream trip! WAY TO GO!

Pudge and I thought it would be nice to see Will Take Charge take the Whitney but with the one hole and his more come from behind with the big strides his trip was to be a little harder. His third place finish is a good placing and we’re very proud of him too. We were not surprised that It’s My Lucky Day did very well, we anticipated he would be up there too and he was. Coming in so well after recovering from a pelvis injury shows his talent and his heart.

Unfortunately Palice did not fire in the Whitney but we must remember, these barn babees are not machines and this is horse racing. It’s hard to keep winning and winning. Even the great Secretariat did not win each race he ran in. It happens so we treasure those wins all the more as they come along.

Whoa!

Hi Friends! Indy welcoming you with a hearty hello and Let’s Go Saratoga from my barn in Georgia to yours! Pudge and I were so thrilled to get a chance to watch some of the stellar racing that took place at the “Spa” this past weekend! The weather was beautiful the track was fast and the crowd came out in droves to show their support. The handle was up and the attendance was too so we’re off to a great start this summer at Saratoga! Saratoga as you may know is historic and where history has been made us swoon in amazement. Who can forget the dead heat in the Travers a couple of years ago and where two canoes were placed in the water for the year ahead to honor not one but TWO winners!! Who can forget Wise Dan and his formidable wins in the Four Star Dave! For that matter, who can forget Four Star Dave? Perhaps the most famous of all winners in New York State at Saratoga. Saratoga gives us a glimpse at the 2 year olds as the get their first wins and show us the potential they have and the Kentucky Derby yet to come. It’s a place for families to have fun and it’s a place where memories are made and for some a place where they get hooked on racing and the horses. Graveyard of Champions? Hmm… well for some it’s been a challenge to get a win and for others it’s a place to thrive. But when it is all said and done, there is nothing like The Summer At Saratoga! Friends please join Pudge and I as we talk more about the races and give you links and more!!

So as the announcer is fond of saying And They’re Off!

Tipsy Saint, Take Good Care and So Long for Now!

Dear Tipsy Saint,

It was hard to say good-bye to you yesterday after all we’ve become such good friends. You’re from a magnificent family of horses and so I am imagine that you may have had your reasons for leaving us so soon. I am sure you will have a lot to catch up on with Secretariat, Ribot and many other great racehorse relatives you’ve not met yet. I envy them having you with them, and I know you told me to not worry that you’ll be fine and most importantly you’ll be free of the pains in your leg that bothered you so much. I will do my best to remember that when I am missing you the most to find comfort in your leaving us just way too soon.

It seems like yesterday when Trainer Jill and Mom went to Penn National to see you. You were like a gift from God in all your splendor when you arrived here. You were shiny and bright and I knew that you did run in many races and you were a winner, but mother nature called you back and so you had to rest and recover from your days on the track. We were so happy to meet you and you fit right in. You quickly made friends with Domingo who was also recovering from his time on the racetrack. You both loved to run but it was time to do something new.

You endeared us all with your laid back ways. You were always so kind and patient with the barn peeps and you enjoyed your bath time most of all. We could see you smile underneath the water fall when they washed you in the summertime! I think that was a special time for you and for us as well. It was so much fun to see a horse enjoy his bath so much! Most of us like to get it over with so we can go rolling, but not you. You were content to take time to enjoy things. The simple things that really do matter.

You also gave us many culinary delights to enjoy and devour! You took over the barn tack room kitchen with ease and before we know it we enjoyed treats with names of things we never heard before! You had an admiration for the Chef Bobby Flay and you made it your mission to be just like him, or at least the equine version of what he may be! Those treats will be remembered fondly but mostly the treats brought us together around the card table, the holidays, the high times and the low times. I think even more than the treats the food brought out the friendly camaraderie that you will long be remembered for. I know there was a time or two that the pots and pans flew out of the barn window when things were not going quite right. That used to amuse us too!

I know that the past few months were very tough on you. Mom tried to find the right ways to help you feel better and then we found out that you were not going to get well. Things changed and you were going downhill. Despite the fight you gave you could not get up and stand tall though I know you wanted to. You got tired and weaker and Mom knew she had to do the right thing. The right thing was good for you but so hard on everyone who luvd you and still do. We will always luv you Tipsy Saint. We will always remember all those good things you taught us. Things like being kind and patient when you don’t feel up to it. Things like having fun with friends and making them feel special. And things like enjoying all those little things that may go unnoticed but are really most important. Most of all you showed us luv, you encouraged us to be the best at what you do and to be there when it counted for a friend. I know many times you were consoling us for one reason or another when we had a trouble or two on our mind. And you also were just so patient and kind to little Buttons when she arrived and cried all night. You knew she was baby going through an adjustment in life. And so now we are going to adjust in life too, life without you.

Our friends are so supportive and will comfort us but I like that Cara said when we look up at the night sky there will be a star shining brightly and looking over us. That shining star, our Gift from God is you Tipsy Saint. Tipsy you had many friends who cared and we are so overwhelmed by their outpouring of luv and faith. They will give us strength in the days ahead.

Thank you for being our dear friend and I will not say goodbye but instead so long for now and luv you forever.

Pudge ♥
