Pudge and I sure hope you’re staying warm and out of trouble! This winter has been the coldest on record and even here in Georgia we have seen winter! Brrr! Pudge echoes the sentiment. Pudge has been enjoying making snow angels whenever he can however. I think he secretly luvs winter! But even with all this weather we are enjoying the Road to the Roses and the road is heating up with each passing week. Those coveted gates are looming closer each day and the first Saturday in May will be here before we know it!
So without further adieu, we’ll get started!! We have lots to cover and away we go!

The Risen Star Stakes
February 21, 2015
Distance: 1 and 1/16 Miles
The Risen Star was won by International Star!! This colt owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey has been shining bright and picked up 50 more points to put him in a solid first place on the Leaderboard. War Story took the place with 20 points and strong closer Keen Ice took the show and 10 points.
Superb performance by winning once again for trainer Mike Maker! This seemed a close repeat of the Lecomte for International Star and War Story. Will these two battle it out at the Derby this same way? We don’t know for sure but we are pretty sure that International Star is going to be a very strong contender and one to watch!

The Southwest Stakes
Date: February 22 2015
Track: Oaklawn Park
Distance: 1 and 1/16 miles
Far Right ran an excellent race in the slop. Very impressive win. Truth or Else took the place while Mr. Z took the show. Far Right took the shorter rail route again which reminded us of his race in the Smarty Jones Stakes. Mike Smith was in the irons and the colt gave him a fantastic ride.
