Dear friends! Greetings to all from my barn in Georgia and Pudge’s in Manheim, PA to yours! We hope you’re staying warm as the Road to the Roses heats up! May is just around the corner and the competition is growing stronger each week! This week the fillies enjoyed a breather in their preps but the boys had two good races to keep us going! First up was the Withers run at the big A. Race Date: February 7, 2015 Track: Aqueduct Race Distance: 1 1/16 Miles Far from Over, El Kabeir and Classy Class hit the board 1,2,3! Far from Over overcame a terrible start to take the win very impressively. Now that friends, was an outstanding horse race. One that Pudge and I are still reeling from. To see a horse stumble that badly, trail in last for much of the race and have the power and acceleration to overcome all that and win so strongly – well simply put it took our breath away!! El Kabeir who we know is a class horse and leaderboard “leader” had a good race too as he was running on the outside for the race but that run by Far from Over caught our attention in a big way. Congrats to all 6 horses as they are the superstars. We hope they all come out of their races in top form and ready to battle another day. To watch the stellar replay and read all the race details please go to this link: Next up was the Robert B. Lewis stakes!! Dortmund proved his mettle again and again by remaining undefeated. This Dortmund is quite the talent and we have some pretty high expectations for this colt. This colt was to deny Firing Line yet another win!! This race was so exciting. Dortmund and Firing Line battled and battled like there was no tomorrow but it was Dortmund who found another gear at the end when it counted the most. Powerful horse ran expertly with Martin Garcia in the irons. Gary Stevens and Firing Line did not make it easy but Dortmund gave it his gritty best and got the job done. Dortmund, Firing Line and Rock Shandy ran 1-2-3 at Santa Anita Park. Race Date: February 7, 2015 Track: Santa Anita Park Race Distance: 1 1/16 Miles To read the chart, study the details and catch this thriller race replay, please go to the link below: Friends on Saturday for Valentines Day we will be watching the El Camino Real Derby from Golden Gate Fields!! We are looking forward to that and we’ll be sure to share all the race info next week. The Road to the Roses is not an easy one but boy it sure does get pretty exciting!! All for now and have a great week. Your friends in racing: Indy and Pudge ♥
